For a very long time, we were separated into very limited areas, so wherever we lived, we looked like the people around us. When we started to travel around to different places, there were obvious differences between us not only in looks but in also our cultures. I think a main reason why some people are racist is because of the cultural differences. We fear what we don't understand. Some cultures are just so very different than us. In some countries, it is perfectly acceptable to consume animals that those in other cultures keep as pets. We then stereotype entire races based on a few things and create misunderstandings and hasty generalizations which lead to hate.
Another main reason why I think people are racist is because racism is definitely passed down. If your parents act a certain way around people of different races, you're going to pick it up and act the same way. Changing something that's ingrained into you at such a young age is very hard. It's passed down, sometimes unconsciously.
Question: We are very touchy about race and differences between us that we try very hard to be politically correct. Does being politically correct embrace or stifle our differences?
