"Why do some people feel such a strong desire to travel?"
I believe that the desire to travel is fueled by curiosity. Humans are curious by nature and they want to to see things that are different from them. By traveling, you get to see people of other walks of life, with different food, different clothing, and different everything else. However, wanting to travel can also be considered the search to find a new home. There are people who move around from place to place, never happy because they have not found the right place and the are people who live in the same place their entire life. So perhaps through travel, people hope to find a place where they belong and finally attain happiness.
